Faster than Sound

So this lends credence to the concept that a dragon's tail slap might be as powerful as its bite. Apparently models suggest that a dinosaur could slap and break the sound barrier. Its not conclusive, but the evidence is pretty good.

"It is, of course, impossible to create a real tail out of flesh and blood," Myhrvold told Live Science. "But this model's every single bone — there's 82 bones in the tail. It has the correct dimensions, it has the correct joint angles and then each [vertebra] has weights on it to simulate the weight of the flesh."

I've always liked the concept of dragon's tail crushing bone and rending flesh to pulp. Its a great way to surprise a group of would be dragon hunters!

In my head I imagine it more dramatic than this....
